ETFE Cushion Calculations
ETFE foil manufacturers provide light and thermal characteristics of the foils they produce. So, they are widely available for designers. But, when it comes to ETFE cushions, things get complicated. Characteristics of layer (thickness, printing, geometry etc) affect the results. For designers of ETFE structural systems, it has been a hassle to decide on the combined light and thermal characteristics of cushions.
Using material data from the foil suppliers in combined with some emprical approach and approximations, we present light and thermal characteristics of ETFE cushions.
As per selected ETFE layers, ultraviolet (UV) transmission, UV reflectance, visible light transmission, visible light reflectance, solar light transmission, solar light reflectance, solar heat gain control (SHGC, G Value), shading coefficient and U Value are calculated.
